Daylight design and design for the circadian lighting at the new intensive ward at Ballerup Psychiatric Center.
The overriding aim here is to provide an environment where patients receive the best possible psychiatric care. For this to happen, patients and their relatives, should experience their meeting with the psychiatric hospital as transparent, positive and characterized by respect.
The lighting design supports this attitude with ample access to daylight and artificial lighting that helps establish and maintain healthy sleeping patterns. Patients live in sixteen individual rooms where they use a combination of manual and automatic lighting control.
